Re: False Alerts From Healthy Servers

y Rob,

I haven't found a final solution to this issue, but I wanted to give you an update on what I've discovered so far.  I have see that other people on the OME forum have run into this same issue, but no one has ever found a solution or, from what I can tell, a source of the issue.  I believe I have found the source on our 2008 R2 servers.  I could be the same for Vista and above.  Unfortunately, I cannot confirm on all Windows operation system versions.

Anyway, the issue appears to be stemming from the 6TO4 tunnel adapter that is loaded when a public IP address is used on one of the NICs.  My organization uses public IP addresses for all servers which means that everything 2008 and above has the 6TO4 adapter.  As you can see below, the 6TO4 adapter only gets assigned an IPv6 address.  Therefore, it seems that 0.0.0.0 is being picked up when the SNMP traps are sent.

I'd like to know how to tell SNMP to use the servers IPv4 NIC address, but I don't know how to do that.
