There are couple of things you can try and a few questions:
- OMSA couples with a default certificate, but mostly it will not be trusted in your environment. Is that certificate changed to be compliant to your environment? If yes, you might get some helpful information in this post. http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4494/p/19515916/20409318.aspx#20409318. After upgrading the OMSA, you might want to check that.
- when you say installer was buggy, by any chance can you help us to understand what exactly went wrong? Did the installation not complete at all? Was it an installation using domain administrator?
- For the system update issue, there is a fix available at http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4494/p/19517119/20414342.aspx#20414342. It should be of some help
- For the Inventory collector problem, the documentation can be looked upon
