OM Essentials 2.0.1 getting error invalid user name password - on R410

We have had this software running for several years now without any issues. We just noticed that we lost communication with OME 2 months ago and went to log into it and are getting User name or password is invalid.

We are logged in as domain admin on this system - still getting error

Tried to repair installation - getting same error

Tried to uninstall it - getting same error

Tried to upgrade to latest version - no surprise here - still getting same error

Need help asap as this is one of 2 servers that reports back to us about all our customers and their server issues.

Did an upgrade from OME 2.2 to 2.3.  I now have both SupportAssist 2.2 and SupportAssist Enterprise installed.  Are they both supposed to be there?

If I try to launch the "Essentials Command Line Interface", it crashes immediately.

OME 2.3 and Trap Listener

Hi there,

I've noticed that after OME upgrade to version 2.3 SNMP Trap Listener stopped to work. I've check on 2 servers (w2k12r2) and got the same error:

Entry Point Not Foud

The procedure entry point memdup could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell Troubleshooting Tool\SNMPListener.exe

Any idea how to fix it?

OME 2.2 auto discovery

Hi all, I'm in an environment with HP recently we've introduced Dell hardware, so far so good. 

One issue I'm asking guidance for is discovery, can I auto discover hosts based by incoming snmp trap similar to HP SIM (where is a previously undiscovered host sends a trap the SIM server will discover and inventory it) or similar behaviour? 

At the moment we have have servers being introduced in blocks so we can discover by IP range, in the future this might become messy when individual servers are introduced and the discovery task needs to be 1 by 1. I could discover by range or subnet to include ranges that will contain HP servers although this will become messy in the GUI with large numbers of unknown servers listed.

Disable monitoring of Array Batteries

We have a few servers that either have the array batteries have failed or we removed them. These are older non-critical servers and are scheduled for replacement over the next year or two. Is there a way to configure OME or OMSA to ignore/disable the monitoring of the Array Batteries.

which version of OMSA to install on poweredge 2950

hi Dell,

do let me know if i posted my question in the correct section, thanks.

This question is related to the correct version of OMSA to installed on poweredge 2950 in my enviroment.

I tried both the recommended version v7.4.0 which this page suggested is the supported version for poweredge 2950, but after installation , IE keep giving the page canot be display error

However if i tried to install the latest version of OMSA 8.5 on this poweredge2950 or another 2950 in my enviroment,  IE will able to display the OMSA console perfectly even though on Dell page is not the recommended version for poweredge 2950.

Dell, can you verify which version of OMSA should i go with ? thanks for your help.

Getting physical server alert to OME so it can email

Hi ,

I have OME running and can discover / inventory  servers using the drac interface.

I have OME working to send all alerts via email , Test emails are delivered and send alert Actions on all conditions is setup.

What I can't seem to have working / setup is getting a fault ( lose of a power supply for instance)  on the server detected by OME so that is can send an alert.

Is there further configuration on server needed to send alerts? 

Is there a way to test the server alert process from server  to  OME to email ?

Dell's OMSA 9.0.1 for ESXi is a Joke?

Hi Dell Folks,

I managed to have one of my VMware ESXi host installed with OMSA (OpenManage 9.0.1 for ESXi 600) via VMware's Update Manager. That said, it is from official source of Dell's VMware depot. (https://vmwaredepot.dell.com/index.xml)

Installation was fine.

When I try to connect from my OMSA DWS (either from server or my management desktop),  it said something about version compatibility.

OK, I try to find a newer version of OMSA, sadly the best I can find is 8.5, that's my installed one.

So, there should be an newer OMSA coming? Or 9.0.1 in VIBs format for ESXi is too soon to be placed in Dell's VMware depot?

Should I go thru the SSH thingy to issue uninstall command, tho I am not too urgent on this.

OpenManage Essentials: Access to the download site is no longer available

When I try and do a System Update on a R630 server, I get the message:

Results: Access to the download site is no longer available. Only a partial number of packages could be downloaded. Package(s) downloaded (or) copied....

And only 2 of the 7 .exe files are downloaded. 

What does this message mean?

If I go to my browser and type the failed link in, I can download the packages fine. So they do exist, and can be downloaded via IE or Chrome.

Why can't OpenManageEssentials download them then?!?

not include optional updates in catalog so compliance report doesn't flag servers

Has anybody been able to not have optional updates be included in the catalog? I don't want the compliance report to flag a system that has pending optional updates. I tried many things, creating my own catalog, downloading the updates, filtering by unchecking optional, nothing seems to work.

Hello, I upgraded to OME 2.3. My RAC has a question mark on it. This wasn't the case in 2.2.

firmware for the RAC is 5.22 which is the latest. Is there a fix?

OME 2.3, OSMA 8.4

Get this when trying to install some updates.

Results:  File deploy command failed to execute with error message: The deploy operation failed.  Unable to copy the file to the remote system.

Firewall is off on both ends. How troubleshoot this? Is there a test tool?

How to find root cause of Warnings

Hi,

We sometimes get warnings in OME (2.3) like the pic below.

But when the drac logs are looked at, nothing can be found relating to a Warning.

Is there a way to get OME to be more specific about what it is Warning about?

Task successful but still says needs updates

This happens often.

Task applies some updates. They are successful. I wait a bit, do a manual discovery on the server the task was applied to. I do this multiple times. The server still shows up in non compliant tab saying it needs the updates I just applied successfully. Why?
